I'm Sammi-Peony, a Dental Therapist based in the New Forest, Hampshire.
I work between Southampton and Wimbledon, providing a wide range of treatment within my scope of practice as a Dental Therapist. Prior to qualifying in 2019 from the University of Portsmouth with a BSc (Hons) in Dental Hygiene and Dental Therapy. I worked as a Qualified Dental Nurse for 10 years, in both private and NHS dental practices within Hampshire.
Within my Dental Nursing career i completed a variety of post qualification courses, such as Hypodontics, Odontology, Implant Nursing and Impression Taking. I regularly volunteered as a Dental Nurse for “Crisis at Christmas” charity working with homeless in London
I spent two years completing a research project into the importance of improving Homeless oral health. Since qualifying as a Dental Therapist i have completed courses in Implant Maintenance and Tooth Whitening, with aims to complete a MRes in Homeless oral health in the near future, to follow up my previous research.
In March 2020 i joined a small team of volunteers to travel to Cambodia to provide dental treatment within the poorer regions, on behalf of DentAid. In September 2020 i will be starting my part time PG Cert in Clinical Education at the University of Plymouth, Peninsula school of Medicine and Dentistry.
Within my spare time i enjoy sewing, painting, kayaking and horse riding.
After growing up on a farm, i have a large love for agricultural practices and the south coast. Therefore, i try to get out in the countryside with my dog as much as possible! If i'm not in a dental practice, i can be found modelling or exploring a new part of the UK.
